Member of the baseball and football teams, Yale University student and athlete Amos Alonzo Stagg (A.B., class of 1888), was selected to play on the first All-America Team in 1889. Later in his career, Mr. Stagg served as athletic director, professor of Physical Culture and Athletics, and head football coach at the University of Chicago (1892-1932).
