I: Individuals and Groups
A team led by F. Clark Howell, professor in the department of Anthropology at the University of Chicago found 2,000,000 year-old fossil remains of Australopithecines in the Omo River Valley of southern Ethiopia in 1968. Dr. Howell is pictured comparing his finds (at right) to a cast of the skeletal remains (held by him) of a 1,750,000 year-old hominid fossil found by paleoanthropologist Mary Leakey in 1959. The box contains Australopithecine teeth of various ages.
