Description | The work of Gertrude Dudley, Director of Women's Athletics and the Women's Gymnasium at the University of Chicago was recognized when in 1925 this athletic field was named in her honor. After arriving at the university in 1898, Ms. Dudley embarked on an ambitious campaign to promote the growth of women's collegiate athletics and physical education. Dudley Field was located on the south side of 58th Street between Woodlawn and Kimbark Avenues. |
