Astronomer Carl K. Seyfert at the control board used to operate McDonald Observatory's dome and telescope. Both the observatory, in the Davis Mountains of Western Texas, and its 82-inch reflecting telescope, were designed and built by the Warner & Swasey Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The observatory will be dedicated May 5, 1939, and will be operated jointly by the University of Texas and the University of Chicago.
