Electric Power Sources 2
II: Buildings and Grounds
This one-third horsepower electric motor operates the perfectly balanced 75-ton telescope. An outstanding feature of the observatory is its declination-deviation control, which automatically compensates for the earth's rotation, allows for the bending of light rays striking the earth's atmosphere, and keeps the huge instrument constantly focused on stars in their flight through space.
