Planet Jupiter photographed with the 82-inch Reflector of the W. J. McDonald Observatory. The bright image of a satellite and its shadow are visible in the infrared photograph (left). The satellite and its shadow are both dark in the ultraviolet photograph (right); here too the Great Red Spot appears as a dark oval near the upper right edge.
