II: Buildings and Grounds
Composing room, fourth floor. Drop lights, with huge bunches of wire, twisted in knots, hang from the ceiling over each case. These were later replaced by safer lights. The photograph was a gift of Mrs. A. L. Staples, a mono keyboard operator who worked at the University of Chicago Press from 1908.
