Demolition 1
II: Buildings and Grounds
In 1983, demolition of the old shop or storehouse, located between 57th and 58th Streets on Ingleside Avenue, began in order to make way for the John Crerar Library. The building initially served as a power and physical plant, but later functioned as a general staff and storage facility after a new University heating plant was constructed south of the Midway.
