Description | Architectural drawing (photograph copy) of a central dining room in the Residence Quadrangle for women, University of Chicago. The cross-shaped dining hall, with kitchens in the north arm and a cafeteria style food-service unit in the center, will seat 400 at a time. The ground floor of the central dining and entrance building will contain a general reception room, and the only access point for the three residence halls around the central court. A driveway on the east side of building will connect with the street, and offer sheltered entry in bad weather. Designed by Eero Saarinen and Associates, the facility is expected to be completed by September 1957 for the opening of the University’s autumn quarter. |
