Farrington Daniels, physical chemist, and director of the Chicago Metallurgical Laboratory, Manhattan Project (1945-1946), at the unveiling of a tablet on the wall of the University of Chicago's Stagg Field. It commemorates the first controlled nuclear fission chain reaction, an event which took place under the athletic venue's west stands, December 2, 1942.
