III: Events
Experiments of Humberto Fernández-Morán, professor of Biophysics at the University of Chicago. Electron micrograph of a thin segment from the eye of the South American moth Erebus ordora. The ordered, symmetrical fine structure of its constituents plays a key role in the remarkable capacity for analyzing polarized light and the direction-finding ability of insects. Magnification x 6000.
