Description | One hundred-foot shaft in the Alishar Mound in Turkey contains the most inclusive stratified culture sequence ever found still in position, covering some four thousand years. A University of Chicago Oriental Institute expedition discovered, at the lowest levels, remains of Stone Age houses, and Iron Age examples in the higher levels.
