True to its goal, the Esoteric Club, which was created for the purpose of advancing social life on campus, awarded the Esoteric Ring to the freshman member who showed outstanding leadership in extra-curricular activities and scholarship. The academic year was marked by a major social event each quarter that included formal dinner parties, the Inter-Club Ball, and a spring party for the University of Chicago Settlement.
