Picnic 18
IV: Student Activities
At the orientation week picnic, Antony St. Clere Berkeley Gage, a new student in the college of the University of Chicago, cooks a hotdog for Dean F. Champion Ward putting a new twist on "an apple for the teacher." Gage, the 19-year-old son of England's consul to the United States, Mr. Berkeley Gage, who is stationed at Chicago and Mrs. Gage, will be a third-year student. The College accepts students after their sophomore year in high school for a four-year program of general education, and they will receive a bachelor's degree when others are completing the sophomore year in the conventional university programs.
