Letter (photograph copy) from James A. Weaver, Lieutenant Colonel, 32nd Texas Cavalry Regiment (CSA), to William Johnson McDonald. A soldier under Colonel Weaver's command, Mr. McDonald became a banker following the Civil War. The McDonald Observatory of the University of Texas is named in his honor, having been built with a generous bequest from his estate.
