In the Yerkes Observatory Optical Shop, a view of the glass speculum that became the mirror for the Mount Wilson Observatory 60-inch reflector telescope. Cast by the Saint-Gobain Glassworks in France, William Hale purchased the speculum as a gift for his son, Yerkes Observatory director George Ellery Hale.
