Urban Renewal 3
VII: Chicago Maroon
Tenants move out of the Constitution Apartments at 6043-6045 S. Woodlawn Avenue, told to vacate by the City of Chicago, which sought to demolish the building and sell the property to the University of Chicago. The owner Frederika Blankner filed suit to stop demolition, but lost a seven-year court battle that reached the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. It was torn down July 23, 1975.
