Description | Paul R. Cannon retires on September 30 from the University of Chicago where he has been a member of the medical faculty for 32 years, the last 17 as professor and chairman of the department of Pathology. As a medical researcher, Dr. Cannon first showed that proteins are necessary in diet in order to maintain a healthy resistance to infection. He will continue as advisor to Congress on food and drug laws and as chief editor of the American Medical Association's journal, Archives of Pathology. |
