Dwight E. Clark (right) and Paul V. Harper (left), physicians at the University of Chicago, will be transferring radioactive iodine into the glass flask on the left from a small vial encased in the lead canister they are opening. Dr. Clark has placed lead bricks next to the box to absorb radiation from the isotope material, which was taken from an atomic pile at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.
