Garfield Vestal Cox, the Robert Law Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago is a leader in the study of forecasting business conditions. His major fields are management of financial institutions and prediction and control of economic fluctuations. He is past president of the American Finance Association and chairman of the board of the South East National Bank in Chicago.
