Description | Orthopedic units of the University of Chicago Clinics. The three-story Gertrude Dunn Hicks Memorial is to the left; the five-story Nancy McElwee Memorial is on the corner. The buildings are equal in cubic area and house 100 beds, 50 in each unit, for the care of crippled children. The University of Chicago owns and operates the Gertrude Dunn Hicks Memorial. The Home for Destitute Crippled Children owns the Nancy Adele McElwee Memorial, which it operates in affiliation with the university. |
