Description | University of Chicago Chapel Carillon. 50 ton oil jack at top most northwest corner of supporting steel, holding steel down against over-turning from weight on exterior cantilever steel by reaction at the top against special quick cement beam put into masonry against the weight of the masonry of the tower above. Two such jacks were used, the second one being at southwest corner. Cantilevers were left in place for any possible future use of cantilever. |
