Woodward Court
Architectural Drawing: Bedrooms 1
II: Buildings and Grounds
Architectural drawing (photograph copy) of a double bedroom in the University of Chicago’s Woodward Court. Bedrooms in the new $3,200,000 Residence Quadrangle for women will have individual modern-style desks and dressers, ample closet space, and beds that convert to day couches. Additional storage space for infrequently used clothes such as formals will be provided in the basement. The three four-story units facing a central court will contain 60-single bedrooms and 228-double bedrooms, and house 516 students. These will connect to an entry building with a central dining room. Designed by Eero Saarinen and Associates, construction is expected to be completed by September 1957 for the opening of the University’s autumn quarter.
