Description | Architectural drawing (photograph copy) of a recreation and general utility room in the University of Chicago's new $3,200,000 Women’s Residence Quadrangle. The three halls will house 516 students in 60-single and 228-double bedrooms. Each of the three units will contain a lounge, typing and music practice rooms, a guest room for visiting relatives, and a recreation and hobby room equipped with card tables, a Ping-Pong table, ironing facilities, reading desks, and kitchenettes. A commons for dining and a central entrance area will connect the four-story residence halls. Designed by Eero Saarinen and Associates, the quadrangle will be completed by September 1957 for the opening of the University's autumn quarter. |
