Description | At dawn, the Plastic Skyhook balloon is filled with helium at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, airport. When fully inflated, the balloon contained 500,000 cubic feet of gas, enough to lift it and the attached 120-pound gondola containing instruments for recording cosmic ray intensities 100,000 feet above Earth. |
