Main eclipse camp at Solok. Building the shelter for the expedition's 65.5-foot camera. Fort barracks (far right) served as a storehouse and sleeping quarters. Photograph taken on the United States Naval Observatory expedition to Sumatra. The eleven member team, of which astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard of Yerkes Observatory was a participant, recorded the total solar eclipse of May 18, 1901.
