Ralph H. Metcalfe (right), politician and former Olympic athlete, with University of Chicago student Alex Spinrad. Mr. Metcalfe, known for his runner-up finish to Jesse Owens in the 100-meter sprint at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, served as a Chicago alderman, and a U.S. Representative for Illinois' 1st District (1971-1978).
