Interior view of the Joint Clemency Processing Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana. Established by President Gerald Ford in September of 1974, the center permitted nearly 6,000 Vietnam War-era draft resisters and those who were absent without leave from military duty, to receive conditional amnesty in exchange for alternative service. The center closed in April of 1975.
