Administrators at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools are picketed by students and sent letters by angry parents in protest over the school's decision not to renew the contract of Leonard Wisniewski, its popular shop teacher. He was let go, Mr. Wisniewski believes, because he would have to be given tenure under the teachers' union contract after teaching one more year.
