The Physiology Building of the University of Chicago was dedicated as Abbott Memorial Hall 29 October 1940 in honor of Clara A. Abbott and her husband Wallace C. Abbott, the founder of Abbott Laboratories. Pictured at the dedication ceremony luncheon, from left: Alfred W. Bays, lawyer, and trustee under the will of Mrs. Abbott; Ella B. Burdick, widow of Abbott Laboratories president Alfred S. Burdick; university trustee Harold H. Swift; Eleanor Abbott Ford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abbott; university president Robert M. Hutchins; and Anna C. Bays, wife of Alfred W. Bays.
