Description | Forging at the Bethlehem plant is carried out in a large hydraulic press forge, in which a pressure as high as 7,500 tons may be exerted on the steel as it is kneaded and pressed into the desired shape and cross section. The first step in the foraging operation shown here is known as squaring the ingot. |
