Coats of control mice (c, lower left) remained dark brown; those of mice exposed to gamma rays ([gamma symbol, upper right) became spotted with gray; and, those of mice irradiated with neutrons (n, lower left) turned entirely medium gray. For comparison, coats of mice x-irradiated with 600-roentgen dose (x, upper left) became spotted with gray.
