Description | This facility was the first of its kind in the Chicago area. Under the leadership of John A. Simpson, scientists and students investigate such things as deep space probes and satellites like Mariner IV, Pioneer V, and Explorer VI. This facility serves as an interdisciplinary space-research center. Solar flares, cosmic activity, the moon, the solar system, and space travel are among the topics studied here. Astrophysicists also use Yerkes Observatory and McDonald Observatory to conduct observational research. |
