Yerkes Observatory 40-inch refractor telescope is sixty-three feet long, and the dome over it is ninety feet in diameter. The floor below it measures seventy-five feet across, and can be raised and lowered twenty-three feet, a range which allows the telescope to point at objects near the horizon or at the zenith.
