Nippur Expedition 3
III: Events
Archaeologists from the University of Chicago and University of Pennsylvania discovered a large temple at the city of Nippur in Iraq, one of two discovered in 1952 at the northwestern end of a forty-acre religious quarter. As diggers began clearing sand and superficial layers above the temple, measurements of the structure were estimated to be 165 by 230 feet.
