Persian gold jewelry, ca. 500 BCE, from the period of the Achaemenid rulers Darius and Xerxes. Recently acquired by the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute, it was displayed for the institute's thirtieth anniversary; the collection includes: a winged and horned lion medallion, ten small lion heads, four medallions with two lions, pieces decorated with griffins, and the god Ahura Mazda.
