VI: Yerkes Observatory
Yerkes Observatory 40-inch refractor telescope on May 27, 1933 which will capture light from the star Arcturus and direct it into a photocell of the photo-electric photometer placed on the table. The resultant current will be transmitted over phone lines to Chicago where it will activate the lights of the "Century of Progress" during the evening, thus officially opening the world fair.
