In the basement room of Yerkes Observatory, summer, 1955, Richard H. Miller (right) and an unidentified colleague (left) work with a vacuum chamber in order to mount an image intensifier. A graduate student and research associate of astronomer William A. Hiltner, Mr. Miller later served as a professor in the department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago.
