Description | Children at the Constitution Apartments at 6043-6045 S. Woodlawn Avenue. Their parents, who were tenants, were told to vacate by the City of Chicago, which sought to demolish the building and sell the property to the University of Chicago. Frederika Blankner, the owner, filed suit to stop demolition, but lost a seven-year court battle that reached the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. The structure was torn down July 23, 1975. |
