Description | Frances Biery (left), a 26-year-old organist from Dayton, Indiana who is blind, converses via Braille with Geraldine Lawhorn (right), a deaf and blind young woman. Ms. Lawhorn is visiting Ms. Biery, who is practicing on the University of Chicago's organ for a concert in Rockefeller Chapel. Ms. Biery is writing a book about her school days in Dayton, and Ms. Lawhorn intends to take up writing too. Each woman is accompanied by a leader dog, Bess with Ms. Biery, and Blondie with Ms. Lawhorn. The latter dog was purchased with funds provided by Marshall High School schoolmates and a local Catholic Youth Organization. |
